Scott is an intellectual property lawyer and registered patent attorney who helps clients identify, protect, and leverage valuable intellectual property. His practice includes patent prosecution, trademark registration, and post-grant proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board, including inter partes review.
Scott has prosecuted patents across a wide range of technologies, including software, mechanical devices, medical devices, cosmetics, food and beverage, and biotechnology. He combines technical fluency with practical legal strategy to help clients achieve allowance, manage risk, and build durable IP positions that support real business goals.
Trained at one of the nation’s leading intellectual property law firms, Scott founded Eastgate IP after practicing as a patent attorney at Knobbe Martens. In that role, he managed IP portfolios, prosecuted patent applications, and supported diligence matters for clients ranging from Fortune 500 companies to start-ups and independent inventors. He also has extensive experience preparing infringement opinions and conducting validity analyses of competitor portfolios.
Scott’s practice is based in Bellevue. He earned his law degree from the University of Washington after completing a degree in biochemistry.
